When
charging your cell phone or other electronics, consider using
renewable
energy like solar power or other new and available technologies that can save
electricity.
Portable solar chargers have
gotten more popular in the past few years; some can be used with your cell
phone, GPS system, MP3 player, and camera. Or you can save electricity with
manual cell chargers that you
hand-crank or squeeze to power your electronics, instead of plugging them in. Some charging
stations on the market prevent unnecessary energy use after you remove electronics or
when they're fully charged. Or
set a timer when your cell charger is plugged in for a
cheap way to prevent unwanted (and unnecessary) energy use, lest you forget. More simply,
unplug your MP3 or cell charger, as it could still be using energy, or plug
'em all into a
power strip and turn that off. It
only takes a second!
